WoW 8.1: Horde War Campaign, Part 2: Gallywix and the G.M.O.D.

by - 6 years ago

The Horde and Alliance War Campaigns begin anew with patch 8.1. In this post, we look at part 2 of the Horde War Campaign, where Trade Prince Jastor Gallywix seeks the player’s help in testing and deploying new Azerite tech in an all-out robot attack on the Alliance and High Tinker Gelbin Mekkatorque.

Clearing Out the Azerite Spring

The first phase of part 2 takes players back to the coast of Zuldazar, right next to The MODERLODE!! dungeon entrance. Horde and Alliance quests converged here for a bit, and nearby is also the location of a Dark Iron insurgence.

For It Belongs in My Mech!, you’ll get a quest item called the Azerite Vacuumizer. Keep in mind that killing the Azerite Muck mobs will not give you quest credit, and that by using the Vacuumizer, you won’t have to attack any mobs at all. Just click and watch it absorb all the hostile slimes. Note: If you hold on to this quest while saving the goblins for the part mentioned below, it makes it a little less annoying as you can continue using the Vacuumizer until you hand in It Belongs in My Mech!

For Avoiding Lawsuits 101, you’ll have to go around the same Azerite-infested area to save a few fallen Goblins.

Cleaning Up Krazzlefrazz Outpost

Finally, you get to try out Gallywix’s latest weapon, the G.M.O.D. Throughout the rest of part 2, you’ll test out all of its functionality, but for now you’ll just hop in to the mech for The Right Mech for the Job. This will take you to Drustvar and the next part of the chain.

Mekkatorque’s goons are also onto the Azerite tech craze and the Azerite rupture near the Outpost is a highly contested area. You might have some trouble reaching the 30 required kills for the quest, as all around you will be other mechs going for the kills. Just move out of the Outpost to the outlying battle area, which is rife with mobs you can kill for credit. You’ll have two abilities, a ranged Azerite barrage and a jump that has an Azerite-powered AoE explosion on impact.

Once you get your 30 kills, you’ll use the previously greyed-out red button on your action bar. If you’re dumb like me, you won’t read the quest and will assume the POI it sends you to will be some spawn. Instead, go to the POI on your map and click the button to hurl up in the air. At Gallywix’s goading, you’ll unleash a pretty awesome scripted attack on the Alliance forces below.

Fixing the G.M.O.D.

For Necessary Precautions, you’ll take the G.M.O.D. from the defensive to the offensive. Nearby, Mekkatorque’s forces are being strategized and deployed by an immense airship. En route, Gallywix comes face-to-face with Mekkatorque’s competing Azerite mech, and since he didn’t take the proper time to refuel, he’s no match for the Gnome’s robot.

Shot down, Gallywix has players troubleshoot the G.M.O.D.’s “roadside assistance” for help in Insurance Policy. After a couple short interactions with the downed mech suit, you’ll be prompted with Insurance Renewal and Killing on the Side, which reveals that the Goblins called to assist Gallywix have been captured by nearby Alliance forces.

Nearby on Vigil Hill, you’ll take down Alliance mobs and release three Goblins (Fizzle, Puggi, and Scowler) from capture at pre-determined cages. More importantly, you’ll pick up the quest Mekkatoque’s Battle Plans from slain Kul Tiran soldiers, which indicate that nearby paperwork should reveal the High Tinker’s location, as well as the location of the airship you failed to take down the first time. The battle plans, in true World of Warcraft fashion, are just sitting in a nearby tent.

The Goblins rescued and plans recovered, you’ll return to Gallywix and the G.M.O.D. to mount the final, epic assault on Mekkatorque.

Pacific Rim Time

The last bit of part 2 begins with Mech Versus Airship. For this all-out assault on Mekkatorque and his operations, you’ll fly up to the Alliance airship and blast it to cinders with your Azerite artillery.

But Mekkatorque doesn’t go down without a fight. Another fight. You’ll land on the deck, and while Gallywix fights with the G.M.O.D., you’ll be back to your tried and true character. As a team, you’ll almost defeat Mekkatorque’s mech, only for him to escape with superior shielding technology while the ship goes down in ashes.
