Battle for Lordaeron Starts August 7th

by - 7 years ago

As a follow up to the War of Thorns and Burning of Teldrassil events leading into the release of World of Warcraft’s upcoming expansion Battle for Azeroth the next event involves the Alliance attempting to retake a former Human capital city now owned by the Horde.

The city of Lordaeron, once home to King Terenas II, Queen Lianne, and their children Princess Calia and Prince Arthas (yes, THAT Arthas), was overtaken by the Scourge after Arthas’ return as a Death Knight. After Arthas returned to Northrend to defend the Lich King, Sylvanas Windrunner led the Free Undead (those not under the control of the Lich King) against the Scourge and took control of the city, making their home in the sewers and calling their new home the Undercity.

As a result of prior events outlined both in-game and the tie-in novel “Before the Storm” by Christie Golden, the Alliance feels it is necessary to retake the city. This event will take place as a scenario leading into the expansion and will be released to all players August 7th, 2018.

It was initially announced that the Battle for Lordaeron would take place at the beginning of the expansion and would require players to have purchased the expansion for this content to be available.

Community Manager Ythisens announced on August 6th that the decision had changed and that the scenario would be available for all players regardless of pre-purchase status.

It was previously communicated that you would need to pre-purchase Battle for Azeroth to play the final part of the 8.0 pre-patch event tomorrow, The Siege of Lordaeron, however, this is no longer the case and we have changed it to now be available regardless of prepurchasing the expansion!

I also want to throw out a reminder that you all have a week to go before the pre patch events are removed from the game and as such the mounts, Teldrassil Hippogryph and the Undercity Plaguebat for the Alliance and Horde respectively, will be no longer attainable. So remember to get out to Darkshore and get those done so you don’t miss out!
