As a part of the next expansion to World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth the development team has added new subraces to each faction in the game.

The Highmountain Tauren and Nightborne have decided to join the Horde while the Void Elves and Lightforged Draenei have sided with the Alliance.

Additional Allied Races will be added later (including Dark Iron Dwarves, Zandalari Trolls, and potentially Iron Horde Orcs).

The first four races became available with preorders of the Battle for Azeroth expansion and completion of a series of in-game objectives and questlines.

The second Allied race to join the Horde are the Nightborne, followers of Thalyssra who have chosen to join the larger world. To unlock Nightborne players are required to obtain an Exalted reputation with The Nightfallen of Suramar and the Insurrection storyline in the same zone.

Once you’ve unlocked each of these achievements and spoken with Sylvanas in the Orgrimmar embassy she will direct players to return to Suramar and the Estate of the First Arcanist to meet Lady Liadrin.

Upon arriving players meet with Liadrin and Thalyssra, where they witness the memory of a somewhat contentious conversation between Thalyssra and Tyrande explaining why the Nightborne choose to join the Horde and establish a place in Silvermoon City.

Upon arriving in Silvermoon players find Alleria speaking with Lor’themar with some sort of offer from Anduin Wrynn. The details of the offer are not explicitly laid out so we don’t know exactly what it is the King was asking but he was quickly denied.

Alleria requests to see the Sunwell which then starts a scenario. During the scenario Alleria approaches the Sunwell at which point creatures of the Void burst forth and attempt to drain the energy from the well. After defeating the enemies and closing the rift between worlds Alleria is sent away from Silvermoon and the player returns to Silvermoon with Thalyssra. Once the player arrives they are instructed to return to Sylvanas in Orgrimmar.

Upon their return the Nightborne pledge their loyalty to the Horde and the player is awarded a Nightborne Manasaber mount.
