5 Argus Things to Finish Before You Move On
by Magistrate - 8 years ago show comments
Argus is probably the largest world content chunk we’ve ever gotten in a single post-expansion patch, which translates into a lot of things to collect, discover, and achieve. The patch opened the way for over 20 mounts, including the Darkmoon Dirigible, the Lightforged Warframe, Mana Rays, Talbuks, and more, as well as many toys, weapon transmog arsenals, armor transmog ensembles, and much more.
Today, we’re looking at just five things you could get out of the way as we look forward to Antorus, the Burning Throne’s opening and whatever excitement BlizzCon 2017 has to offer.
…And Chew Mana Buns Achievement, Bleakhoof Ruinstrider Mount
If there’s one thing we came to Argus for, it’s to kill demons. Lots and lots of them. As the nexus of all Legion activity in the universe and the seat of Sargeras’ power, it only makes sense.
The Bleakhoof Ruinstrider is a mount reward for killing 2,000 “non-trivial” demons on Argus. If you’re new to Argus, you’ll quickly burn through the first two phases of this achievement:
- We Came Here For Two Reasons: Slay 100 non-trivial demons on Argus
- To Kill Demons…: Slay 500 non-trivial demons on Argus
- …And Chew Mana Buns: Slay 2000 non-trivial demons on Argus (mount reward)
- And We’re All Out of Mana Buns: Slay 5,000 non-trivial demons on Argus (title reward: Demonslayer %)
The “non-trivial” note makes this achievement chain seem harder than it is. One easy way of burning through this (besides just doing the questline and World Quests, which have many of their own rewards) is to farm the imps that the rarespawn Puscilla summons before killing her. While the surrounding imps no longer count toward the achievement, hers, oddly, do. Added bonus: Puscilla has a chance to drop the Biletooth Gnasher mount.
Blistermaw Rarespawn, Crimson Slavermaw Mount
Rarespawns litter every nook and cranny of Argus. All of them have a special World Quest that will proc every so often, but they can spawn outside of the quest proc, too. Blistermaw, who spawns just east of the Spirit Crucible in the Antoran Wastes, is one of several rarespawns that has a chance to drop a mount. He seems to be one of the more common spawns, and the drop rate on the mount seems pretty common, as well, so he’s a good place to start collecting.
Blistermaw is a huge mount, and it has some pretty crazy animations going on for its spine. It may run a little goofy, but it’s a unique mount in its own right and a nice collector’s item.
Armor of the Triumvirate Quest, Triumvirate Armor Ensemble
The main Argus questline isn’t terribly long, and players can enjoy many of its perks without doing the entire thing; for instance, access to the Netherlight Crucible and the Argus teleportation network. But for those that like going above and beyond, there’s a great opportunity to expand your wardrobe collection.
The absolute final quest that trails out of the main Argus questline is Armor of the Triumvirate, which asks players to delve into the dungeon, loot an old armory, and beat the final boss. Depending on your class, you will receive one of the four armor ensembles, which give you an entire recolored set to transmog from your wardrobe:
- Cloth: Ensemble: Light-Woven Triumvirate Regalia
- Leather: Ensemble: Burnished Triumvirate Armor
- Mail: Ensemble: Sterling Triumvirate Chainmail
- Plate: Ensemble: Venerated Triumvirate Battleplate
- See them in action on Wowhead
You can acquire other recolored versions of the contained items throughout Argus through chests and rarespawn drops, but these specific colors are only available through the ensembles. Personal opinion: the cloth one is a little drab, but the plate one is absolutely worth it.
Farm Demon Eyes, All-Seer’s Eye Toy
Toys are my Achille’s heel in this game. When I’m sitting around waiting for the rest of my raid team to pop up or for everyone to finish their meals before a Mythic+ run, I’m that loser that spams all his weirdest toys.
The All-Seer’s Eye is one I’m still working on. You’ll have to farm Intact Demon Eyes for Orix the All-Seer, a hermit in a cave by the fel river south of the Spirit Crucible in Antoran Wastes.
The toy, itself, works pretty much like a universal version of the Mind Vision ability for priests, allowing the user to see through the target’s eyes for one minute. It also adds an extra action button while in use to whisper some pre-determined phrases to the target, but the fact that anyone can be a creepy stalker (not just priests!) is its greatest gift to us.
The toy costs 1000 Intact Demon Eyes, which may seem daunting. There are some tricks to farming eyes quickly, but being in a group really helps. Open up your group finder, go to custom PvE, and search for groups named something like “demon eye farm” or “eye farm.” Most groups will farm up in the canyon directly above Orix’s cave, where the mobs are weak, plentiful, and respawn quickly. (Aside: farming demons here is another excellent way to kill two birds with one stone and earn credit toward the …And Chew Mana Buns achievement and its related versions.)
Orix also sells an item (Observer’s Locus Resonator) that creates a portal to one of the demons you’ll need to kill for the Commander of Argus achievement, Rezira the Seer, as well as a pet and some other odds and ends.
Commander of Argus Achievement, Arsenal: Weapons of the Lightforged
Before some recent and necessary changes to certain rarespawn spawn rates (ahem, Shadowcaster Voruun), this achievement was probably one of the more challenging and time-consuming ones.
The Commander of Argus achievement requires you to kill each Argus rarespawn once, and it awards Arsenal: Weapons of the Lightforged. The arsenal unlocks weapon transmog for many weapon types simultaneously–meaning it doesn’t matter what class you finish the achievement with. (Check them out here.)
If you’ve been doing the main Argus questline and the World Quests as you go, you probably have most of the targets done already. To get started, pull up the Commander of Argus achievement, and check the box to track it so you can see a list of targets under your quest progress screen area.
After that, it’s a matter of tracking down each rarespawn. Keep an eye out for World Quests you haven’t finished yet, journey off the well-trodden path to explore, and refer to the achievement’s page on your online database of choice for help finding each of these loot piñatas. (Bonus: as you kill each rarespawn, keep in mind that many drop toys and mounts, and still others drop consumables, Veiled Argunite, and transmog.)
A couple easy targets, a couple harder ones. This should give you some things to hunt for on Argus while we await the opening of Antorus, the Burning throne and what sounds like some exciting news from BlizzCon in early November. Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg–explore your collections tabs for missing items and don’t stop exploring!
