Exploring Draenor: Gibblette the Cowardly

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path.
Location:
Northern Magnarok, Frostfire Ridge
Task:
Kill
Rewards: Craven Coward’s Cloak, chance at Goren “Log” Roller
Magnarok is one of the areas that is exclusively for level 100 players. Enemies include gronn and goren – but the lava pools and blizzards hide another secret. This one will really require some exploration.
Towards the northern end of Magnarok, there is a canyon separating the area’s two halves: one dominated by gronn and the other by frost elementals. However, the brave or curious might see what looks like a path to the left of the gorge, leading upwards to the snow-covered peaks.
You’ll know you’re on the right trail if you come across a pile of bones (the aptly-named Bone Pile), which is all that remains of some poor adventurer. The goren here, obviously, are not content to diet on rocks like those in more forgiving zones. It does raise an interesting question, though: if the goren’s armour plates develop from the rocks they eat, what happens to those that eat flesh and steel? Moving further upward, a Gnawed Crate is found in a small tunnel. Again, the goren have been hard at work eating both the crate and its contents.
Finally, you will find Gibblette the Cowardly, sheltering in a cave at the top of the mountain. Various smaller goren protect the creature, including at least one Vicious Acidmaw – newer players can hop on this NPC and guide it into Gibblette, increasing the goren’s damage taken by 50%. In fact, I recommend that everyone, possibly aside from mythic-geared DPS, do this, due to the goren’s single attack.
Gibblette will spam DIG!!!, a 10-second cast spell that will remove him from combat – and the area. If Gibblette completes the cast, he will despawn and may not reappear at all that day. Classes with short-cooldown interrupts and stuns will do well, but those without the ability to lock an opponent down – Mages and Paladins, for instance – could be out of luck (Mages, Ice Nova/Blast Wave do not interrupt the cast – Supernova may do, as it’s a movement effect, but I couldn’t check).
However, if you don’t manage to kill Gibblette, all is not lost! Goren appear to be related to Pandaria’s virmen – in that they both hate turnips. Inside the cave you will find the Goren Leftovers treasure, which contains a Pile of Frostfire Turnips – use it to gain garrison resources. Poor compensation for being able to ride your very own goren (for 10 seconds every five minutes, at walking speed) – but hey, at least your climb wasn’t wasted!
