Heroes of the Storm April 20 Patch: Arthas Rework, Map Changes Live

by - 3 months ago

Heroes of the Storm just dropped one of its meatiest patches in recent memory. The April 20, 2026 update went live today with a complete Arthas rework, the long-awaited return of Haunted Mines to Quick Match, and a significant change to respawn timers that’s going to impact every match you play.

The respawn timer adjustment is worth talking about first because it affects everyone. By level 22, death timers now cap at 65 seconds instead of the previous longer waits. This should help prevent those brutal late-game scenarios where a single teamfight mistake costs you three minutes of progress. Combine that with Haunted Mines coming back (with meaningful changes to how skull collection works) and you’ve got a very different pacing for the game.

Arthas getting a full rework is the headline news for hero players. We don’t have the complete details in this announcement, but a full rework usually means new talent trees, ability adjustments, and a fresh playstyle to master. The Lich King has been due for some love, and this could shift the tank meta considerably.

The map updates are interesting too. Garden of Terror Classic is back in Custom Games (for those who miss the original version), and Warhead Junction got some quality-of-life changes that make the nuke mechanic more interactive. The 3-second cast time that breaks on damage means you can’t just casually drop nukes while being pressured anymore.

If you’re jumping back into the Nexus or grinding ranked, a solid gaming setup makes all the difference in those clutch moments. The Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 is a favorite for MOBA precision, and if you’re planning marathon sessions with these new map rotations, the Secretlab Titan Evo will keep you comfortable through back-to-back matches.
