DOOM: The Dark Ages Crashes Into Diablo Immortal Starting April 16

Two Hells are about to collide in a crossover nobody saw coming. Starting April 16, Diablo Immortal is hosting The Slayers Reign, a full-on DOOM: The Dark Ages invasion event running through May 13. This isn’t just a couple of cosmetics thrown into the cash shop, Blizzard is going all-in with reimagined gameplay, iconic DOOM weapons, and a Cyberdemon boss fight that should scratch that rip-and-tear itch mobile players didn’t know they had.
The centerpiece is a limited-time Slayer’s Bane mode that completely reimagines Survivor’s Bane with DOOM-inspired weapon skills. You’ll be wielding the Shield Saw, Dreadmace, and the legendary Super Shotgun as you parry, break, and burst through hordes of demons. The skills have synergy built in too, rewarding aggressive play with bonuses against bleeding enemies and stacking damage buffs. And yes, Imps are showing up as enemies, bringing that classic DOOM enemy design into Sanctuary’s hellscape.
The event boss is the Cyberdemon, described here as “The Lord in Chains” and an “Ancient Elder of Hell” created specifically to stop the Slayer. If you’ve played any DOOM game, you know this towering monster is no joke. Taking it down with your new Slayer abilities should be a proper test of whether you can hang with the big guns (literally). Whether you’re grinding through this event solo or want the audio chaos pumping through something like the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5, the intensity is there.
Beyond the gameplay, there’s a new 2-Star Legendary Gem called The Crucible that plays into the Slayer fantasy. It triggers “Slaughter” on low-health enemies, dealing escalating damage as their HP drops. Kills grant Slayer’s Rage stacks that boost damage and movement speed, and killing a player instantly maxes out your stacks. It’s a gem built around momentum and aggression, which fits the DOOM DNA perfectly.
The cosmetic haul is substantial. Free weapon skins from the Sentinel Forged Armory, a Phantom Market set featuring the Praetor Armor (the Slayer’s iconic suit), and two new familiar transmogs: the Serrat mount and a flying Cacodemon. Yes, you can now have a floating ball of flesh and teeth following you around Sanctuary. Event rewards include the gem, Legendary Crests, emojis, Set Gear, and those weapon cosmetics, all earnable just by participating.
This crossover feels like Blizzard testing how far they can push Diablo Immortal’s identity while keeping it recognizably Diablo. Bringing in DOOM’s brutal, fast-paced combat loop into a mobile ARPG is a wild swing, and if the execution lands, it could be one of the more memorable limited-time events the game has seen. The Slayers Reign kicks off April 16, so mobile demon slayers have less than two weeks to prepare for Hell’s newest invasion.
