Dannie Ray’s Hearthstone eSports Play of the Week

Week 4 of PVPLive’s HPL had some great action, but I want to single out a particular game which lead to a very cool finish. I’m talking about Game 2 of ErA’s series against SuperJJ, where the RooT representative decided to queue not Patron Warrior, or Control Warrior, but rather the OTK Raging Worgen deck.
ErA tech’d in 2 Armorsmiths and really built up his life total as he was trying to piece together his combo. ErA quickly got most of his combo cards in hand, but was missing the key Raging Worgen. ErA had lots of draws where Worgen would have been lethal, but the elusive enrager didn’t feel like being on top of his deck. SuperJJ started swarming the board and put the ErA on a tight clock, but his armor gain proved to be just enough and he managed to draw his Raging Worgen exactly one turn before SuperJJ could kill him. This game is worth watching if only for ErA’s reaction to that last draw. Kreygasm indeed!
Play of the Week
The play might seem like a luck of the draw kind of thing, but the key aspect here is that ErA did enough work on his earlier turns keep JJ at a life total where the Combo was lethal. He also build up his life total and refused to break his combo in efforts to try and alleviate the board pressure, he leaned on the ropes and took a beating, waiting for the right opening to unleash a vicious hook. Result? KO!
Is really SuperJJ a pro or similiar? That guy sucks
Can’t avoid commenting… Is the play of the week called: waiting for worgen?
I mean ERA doesn’t do anything special, it’s just desperately waiting for his last combo piece. The face he makes is the only thing especial when he gets the card just in time to win after waiting for it for a few turns.
His deck building and earlier plays allowed him to stay alive just long enough to get the combo, ErA’s balance between controlling the board and hitting the face put JJ at a low enough HP total where combo was lethal.
