Future Hearthstone Tournament Hints at BlizzCon 2014

by - 10 years ago

March is almost over and we remain without a formal announcement for BlizzCon 2014. Fans have been grasping at straws, hoping to draw some sort of official statement out, but thus far Blizzard has been quiet on the matter. Hearthstone Community Manager Zeriyah released a blog post earlier today discussing Ranked Play Season One, and we found something particularly interesting in it.

For those brave and dedicated enough to join the ranks of the Ranked Play Legends, be sure to give it your all each season because we’ve got more plans on the horizon. We’ll be inviting top Legend players to participate in a grand tournament later in the year to determine who will be the next world renowned Grandmaster of the Hearth. Invites will be based on performance across each Ranked Play season, so do your best! More details will be announced at a later date.

Avid Hearthstone fans will no doubt recall that last year Dan “Artosis” Stemkoski bested Octavian “Kripparrian” Morosan in a best of five series and was crowned Grandmaster of the Hearth at BlizzCon 2013. Zeriyah explains in her blog post that the winner of this future Hearthstone tournament will be awarded the same title. This information seems to suggest that there will be another Innkeeper’s Invitational, and if the venue remains the same, it will take place at BlizzCon 2014. The blog also makes it plain that this tournament will not be in the immediate future, but some months down the road.

This evidence by no means confirms that a BlizzCon announcement is coming, but it certainly gives us reason to hope.
