Patch 20.2.2-Battlegrounds

by - 4 years ago

My sweet sweet quilboar. Goodnight sweet prince. You are no longer meta defining. I shall miss you… http://hearthstone.blizzpro.com/2021/05/12/an-open-letter-to-the-quilboar/ Battlegrounds Balance Updates Barrens Blacksmith is GONE. Stormraige’s Quick Thoughts: Good. This card was essentially an always pick at all times. Anytime one of those cards pops up, it’s probably best to take it out. Roadboar: Loses 1 attack. Stormraige’s Quick Thoughts: One attack means that this card is much more a blood gem generator than it is a valid minion when it’s played. At 1 attack it trades into nearly nothing, and generating only a single blood gem on some turns? […]

Patch 20.2.2 Quick Thoughts- Standard

by - 4 years ago

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes turn and face the nerfs. How will these changes impact the standard meta? Hopefully quite a bit. None of these feel like they’ve been nerfed into the ground, but they all seem quite impactful. The buffs? I’m less sold on, but still hopeful. Standard Nerfs Refreshing Spring Water: Increased from 4 to 5 mana. Stormraige’s Quick Thoughts: A number of people were calling for nerfs to incanters flow, but I think this makes more sense. This card was often a 0 mana draw two in more than just spell mage deck. Putting this up to five really caps their […]

Patch 20.0.2 Announced, Goes Live Tomorrow with Nerfs and More

by - 4 years ago

Patch 20.0.2 was announced today after nerfs were promised last week. However, the Patch was a pre-scheduled patch with content for Constructed, Duels, and Battlegrounds, instead of an emergency patch containing just the Constructed nerfs. In terms of Constructed nerfs, six cards are being changed: Deck of Lunacy, Sword of the Fallen, Jandice Barov, Pen Flinger, Far Watch Post (the 2-mana one), and Mor’shan Watch Post (the 3-mana one). These nerfs are designed to target the three strongest classes in the early Barrens meta: Mage (Spell/Lunacy Mage), Paladin (both Aggro Secret and Librams), and Rogue (almost all variants of which […]

Balance Patch Coming Early Next Week

by - 4 years ago

If you’ve been playing Standard since the launch of Forged in the Barrens, you would be excused if you were, perhaps, not having the most fun you’ve ever had in the game. After the usual couple days of nonsense, the meta solidified into one dominated by two classes: Paladin and Mage. According to a recent post by a prominent data analysis site, those two classes combined for over 50% of the meta from Diamond to Legend! They were also the only two classes with positive winrates in that same range. YIKES! Luckily, Team 5 knew early on that there was […]

Today was a big day for Hearthstone! The patch hits on all the big updates that had been teased already, as well as previously-unannounced updates and bug fixes, resulting in a patch that will affect pretty much every Hearthstone player, no matter which mode(s) you play! Check out the […]

More Nerf Reversion Announcements

by - 4 years ago

Senior Game Designer Alec Dawson went back to Twitter today to share a few more nerf reversions that will go live later this month. This batch of nerf reversion announcements addressed Paladin, Priest, and Rogue, but mostly Rogue. Alec shared that the following cards would be reverted: Call to Arms Power Word: Shield Blade Flurry (half-reversion; back down to 2 mana, but does not hit face) Caverns Below (original version–4 minions, 5/5 stats) Necrium Apothecary Galakrond, the Nightmare (the Rogue Galakrond) Edwin Van Cleef Although there are some exciting reversions in here, it is unclear how big of an impact […]

Patch 19.4.1 Hysteria Nerf, Duels Updates

by - 4 years ago

Update: Patch 19.4.1 is now live on all devices! This morning, Hearthstone announced that Patch 19.4.1 is coming tomorrow. The Patch will include the previously mentioned nerf to Hysteria-Tiller decks, as well as some updates to Hearthstone Duels. It also has a few bug fixes, including the fix for the bug that made it impossible to clear all the notifications from your journal, which had been driving many in the community (including me) crazy. The Hysteria change means that the Wretched Tiller combo is dead. Warlock can still do a little bit of nonsense with Treachery, but it appears to […]

At Long Last, Edwin has Dodged his Last Nerf

by - 4 years ago

Back from their holiday break, Hearthstone announced this morning that a set of nerfs is going live… well, later today! These nerfs, directed at both Standard Constructed and Battlegrounds, also include a few small bug fixes. Update: the patch is already live on all devices. As for Standard, Edwin is increasing to 4 mana and Boggspine Knuckles is losing one attack. The reason and effect of the Edwin nerf are plain: it costs more, so it will be slower and harder to play more cards to make it bigger. As noted in the Patch Notes, the Boggspine Knuckles change is […]

They’ve touched on nearly everything! Take a look at the official Patch Notes post (below) and the companion Winter Veil Event Post (linked) to […]

Update: Patch 18.6.1 Now Live!

by - 4 years ago

Update: Patch is now live on all devices! However, by removing Effigy from Akazamzarak’s pool, they accidentally created a situation where you could guarantee an Ice Block on every turn of the game, starting from turn 5, and never lose. That was unintended, so he was removed from the hero pool until they find a solution (most likely, just add another secret or two back in–maybe ones from the new set). Right now, Finely can still discover the hero power, though, so there is still a chance at infinite Ice Blocks unless and until Finley gets addressed as well. Hearthstone […]
