Exclusive Reveal: Old Gods Common Warrior Card – Ravaging Ghoul
by JR Cook - 8 years ago show comments
We have roughly 35% of the Whispers of the Old Gods set revealed so far (check out the full spoiler list of reveals here), and today we at BlizzPro are proud to reveal a common Warrior minion card in the set. Say hello to Ravaging Ghoul.
So this looks to be a corrupted Unstable Ghoul, which if that’s the case it’s interesting to see a neutral minion become a warrior minion, but because of it’s whirlwind battlecry effect it does make the most sense to apply it to a warrior only.
With it being a 3/3 body for 3 it becomes a pretty decent 3 drop since it only hits the other minions and not itself. However, where it really shines is the fact that it’s a potential replacement for Death’s Bite (but obviously not as good) for Patron Warrior. It can help trigger things like Execute to get rid of pesky large minions late game. With it being a common warrior card, it could find itself to be a really good arena pick.
For Wild Format, this card probably doesn’t see as much play as there are better alternatives along with the fact that Death’s Bite is a better pick regardless. For standard though, this card has a decent chance to see play. While it’s not a super overpowered card, it has good utility and may found itself being used in the right decks that are wanting to damage their own minions.
The Well Met podcast crew weighed in with their own thoughts on this card
Here are some possible synergies with this card in Standard Format. Some of these are obviously stronger than others and several will likely never see play, however, we wanted to at least list all of the potential synergy and let you come to your own conclusion on which ones you think are the best. Let us know in the comments where you see this card best getting used and if we missed any uses for it!

Could go well with Ball of Spiders?
The only thing that goes well with Ball of Spiders is the concede button.
:c
Synergises with crowd favorite from TGT. Not that any warrior ever played Crowd favorite
I knew I’d miss one, added it to the list, thanks
Seems like a very good card to fill some of the voids left in warrior with the departure of naxx and gvg! Also will likely be insane in arena as it has a good body with a good effect, and is ALSO a common!
