Welcome dear reader. So it seems you did indeed want a to hear the end of our tale.

Fear not there is of course more to learn. In fact I’ve just been handed this strange envelope. Let me open it… How intriguing. It appears to be a message. A warning? A legal disclaimer?

The following is a fan made narrative. The characters are property of Blizzard Entertainment and this is not used for profit, but for entertainment purposes only.”

Interesting. I’m sure that means nothing. Now… where was I?

Ahh yes. Murloc Holmes had recently shared the details of the murder to all who had gathered.

“Wait… who was it? I must confess, I haven’t understood a single word he’s said tonight?” Rafaam inquired.

“Perhaps it might help if I translated for you Rafaam.” Sesselie sung in a melodic tone. “Murloc Holmes told us that Sire Denathrius’ murder can’t be solved, because it never occurred in the first place. Do I have that right Mr. Holmes?”

Murloc Holmes nodded while puffing on his pipe. A large bubble floated up as Watfin jumped up and a brief “Pop” was heard. There was a moment of silence before the detective continued. “Mrglgl mrrgllg mrrrglgl mrrrgggl mrglggllgl.”

“Ahhh of course. I now understand, but perhaps… you would translate for the others Sesselie?

” Rafaam stated confidently while giving a nod towards Sesselie.

“He is saying that the real question is why would Sire Denathrius fake his own death? And where is he now?”

“I believe I can answer the first question at least.” Pelagos spoke up. “If you look for your items you brought with you… you’ll notice they are all gone. We’ve been robbed. He stole everything we had. Including all of our anima stores.”

The group gasped.

The Lady Vashj snaked over to where the body was found. “But how did he get all of our things? He couldn’t have been around. He must have snuck out somewhere else.”

They all glanced at one another until they realized… one of them was missing.

Stewart the Steward was running across the castle gently weeping to himself. “Oh no… I hope the Master’s Plan is worth it.” Stewart accidentally slammed into his master’s chamber door and it swung open.

“Stewart. Excellent work.” Sire Denathrius began to monologue. “I knew that all of these fools would be suspicious of me throughout the night. They would hold tight their anima confident that I would steal it out from under them. What’s the one way I couldn’t steal them? If I was dead. The fools. All I had to do was fake my own death and make sure all of them had wandered around the castle grounds before hand so should Murloc Holmes show up he would have to traipse around the entire property. This gave you plenty of time to bring their treasure trove of anima up here.”

“But Sire,” Stewart began to protest, “How did you know they would bring anima with them? And why do all of this Sire? It seems…. unnecessary… you already have so much anima.”

“Oh gentle Stewart…” Denathrius began as his hands gently stroked Stewart’s face. “They brought it, because that was the price of admission. The price to get what they desired most. As for why? Why have some… when you can have it all. That’s what I need. ALL OF THE ANIMA AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT ANY OF THEM CAN DO TO STOP IT.”

Just then the door to the bed chamber swung open with the entire group armed and ready to fight.

“Mrglglgl mrrrgl mrrgglll,” Murloc Holmes Mrgled.

“We found you Denathrius! Now give us back what you stole from us and give us what you promised or we end you here and now.” Draka Growled.

“Where is my husband Denathrius?!” Olgra snapped.

“The Winter Queen will be disappointed, but if I’m sure she’ll be happy that you will no longer be a threat,” Ara’lon said with a wry smile.

“You were a fool to get caught Denathrius, and now you must pay,” whispered Kel Thuzad.

“And our evil plans Denathrius? We had so many. Evil Ice Cream. Evil Clues. Evil Essential Oils. Did none of that mean anything to you?!” Rafaam cried. “I mean… I had no evil plans. Good plans. Yes. Good evil ice cream,” Rafaam corrected himself.

Denathrius began to laugh.

“I applaud you for finding me and figuring out my schemes, but two questions. First, how did you know I was here? Second, do you really think that you all could defeat me? I AM THE LORD OF REVENDRETH! I AM UNENDING! NONE CAN STOP ME! I AM INFUSED WITH AN UNLIMITED AMOUNT OF ANIMA! I CAN’T BE BEAT! Which one of you fools thinks you have a shot at my power?”

“I do,” came a voice that made even Denathrius’ spine shiver. A cold collected voice with a confidence that meant danger.

Sylvanas Windrunner strutted through as the group parted to let her lead.

“I refused your invitation Denathrius because I knew you would plan something. I decided to instead visit wrapped in shadows. I followed you after your body was cleared up to this room. When the group eventually figured out what was going on I offered a deal. They help me deal with you and they get what you stole from them returned.”

“But what do you have to gain from this Sylvanas? The Jailor won’t approve,” Denathrius questioned.

“I don’t care what he thinks. I just want to see you get your just desserts,” sneered Sylvanas

There was a quiet in the air. The calm before the storm as all were confident a great battle was about to ensue. Just when Sylvanas reached to nock an arrow Denathrius moved first and struck at Murloc Holmes. The group jumped into action each trying to gain the upper hand against Denathrius. The Lord of Revendreth proved to live up to his title as he survived the initial onslaught with only some minor wounds.

“We can’t defeat him like this,” Kel Thuzad said dejectedly. “He’s too powerful.”

“Distract him for a little longer. My trap is almost set.” Sylvanas replied.

The group lunged at Denathrius again, but were outmatched. Olgra charged, but Denathrius’ personal sword, Remornia, parried the blow and then countered quickly. Kel Thuzad was struck down mid incantation. Rafaam bravely hid in the corner far away from the action in order to supervise. Xy’Mox attempted to make a deal, but was denied. Draka snuck from behind and with a flick of the wrist slid a knife into his back. Denathrius screamed in pain and then flung Draka to the other side of the room.

Lady Vashj tried to capitalize on Draka’s strike, but Stewart stood in between his master and the fatal blow. “A death is a death you fool,” Vashj whispered. She lunged to take the poor stewards life as Pelagos jumped in between them and grabbed Stewart and tumbled away.

“You will pay for your crimes, but you do not need to die,” Pelagos chided Stewart. “Now stay here.”

Sesselie and Ara’lon called on the forces of nature as branches crashed through the windows and restrained The Sire. “It will not hold him for long Sylvanas. Now is the time,” Sesselie sung.

“Perfect.”

Sylvanas slammed her hand on the floor as a series of crimson runes illuminated the room in a blood moon light.

“What is this magic Sylvanas?! What are you doing?” demanded Denathrius.

“It is your end Denathrius.”

The runes began to glow and pulse loudly. Soon Denathrius began to scream as anima began to pour out of him and back to the objects they were originally stolen from.

“No. MY ANIMA!” Denathrius cried.

“Our anima” corrected Olgra.

“The anima I was going to steal!” corrected Rafaam for a second time.

The process only took a few moments, but when the light cleared and the room calmed Denathrius lay there with his arms held up by branches breathing heavily. Sylvanas walked up as her hand grabbed his chin. “You are nothing to me Denathrius. You were a fool, but you are a pawn of the Jailor and I wouldn’t dare move against him… yet… The rest of you get your things and leave. I am sorry, but all of his rewards were lies. With one exception. Olgra I know where your husband is.”

“You had best hold your tongue if you are lying to me banshee. I have been lied to once today I will not take a second,” Olgra grunted as she gripped her axe tighter.

“It is not a lie. He still lives in Azeroth. He is a hero of the horde. He hunts Quilboar every day in revenge. I do not know when he will take his journey to the shadowlands, but I can make sure a message is relayed.”

Olgra considered for just a moment.

“Tell him… tell him to forgive himself, to forgive the Quilboar, that I love him, and that I can’t wait to hold him in my arms again.” Olgra spoke as a tear dropped from her eyes. Draka came up and gave her an embrace and gently wiped the tear from her cheek.

“It will be done.” Sylvanas stated cooly. “The rest of you grab your things and leave. Or at least that is my suggestion. Do what you will I’m done with you.”

“What will we do with… him?” Pelagos demanded?

“He is drained of his power, but his death would mean little. If you want to kill him and bring the Jailor’s wrath be my guest,” Sylvanas replied as she walked out of the room.

The guests all stared at each other unsure of what to do. Slowly one by one they grabbed their stolen items and trickled out.

Now surely… that’s the end of the tale isn’t it? Denathrius defeated. His anima expunged? Sylvanas and the rest victorious. What a delightful fairy tale. Good wins. Evil defeated. Happily ever after.

Not so quick dear reader. For in the shadowlands are things ever truly… finished?

Denathrius pondered weak and weary upon this midnight oh so dreary.

“What am I to do Stewart?” Denathrius demanded, “I have been beaten fair and square. THIS CAN NOT STAND! I MUST GET BACK THERE.”

“But Sire… the Jailor will surely aid you will he not?” Stewart pipped in.

“Yes… yes he will…” Denathrius continued to think, “Tell me Stewart… where is a perpetrator the victim? Where is the one place where truth and lies mix together in a beautiful ballet. How can I convince an entire audience that I have done nothing wrong.”

“I know not my lord,” Stewart replied.

“In the court of Maw and Disorder my dear Stewart.”

What happens next dear reader? Oh of course I know… but I think that’s enough of my tale today. Goodnight… dear reader. Muha… muhahahahahahaha.
