New Deathmatch Map: Petra Unveiled During Overwatch League
by JR Cook - 7 years ago show comments
The newest Overwatch Map: Petra, was announced in a developer’s update earlier in the week, but we haven’t known what the map actually looked like until today — and it is gorgeous
.
Based on the real historical city in Southwestern Jordan, Petra seems to have both outdoor and indoor fighting spaces, complete with destructible artifacts (sorry Indy).

An indoor shot from the Petra reveal video on Saturday.
Petra will also be one of the two maps for the competitive free-for-all mini-season happening during the Anniversary event. In addition to both outdoor and indoor areas, there seems to be plenty of room to knock opponents off the map (hello Lúcio boops).
The new map looks great and it was also mentioned during the reveal that there would be new dance emotes available this year. No word on whether last year’s dances would also be available.
Overwatch’s 2nd Anniversary Event starts Tuesday, May 22, so remember not to get your arcade lootboxes until the patch is out.
I’m excited because I’ll finally be able to get Mercy’s Eidgenossin skin. It has evaded me for 2 years, but no longer.

All cosmetics from past seasonal events will be available during the Anniversary Event. Source
See you all on Petra!
