Much-anticipated changes to Mercy and Junkrat finally went live with the latest Overwatch patch on Jan. 30. Whether you love the changes or hate them, they’re here to stay.

Valkyrie isn’t dead. It’s just different. This will massively affect not only team cooperation but the hero meta in general. This nerf to Mercy’s ultimate makes room in the meta for Lucio and Moira to contribute more than they have been previously. Now that the double resurrect is dead and hopefully gone, teams will need to figure out a new way to keep everyone alive and fighting.

Junkrat, on the other hand, only got one tiny little change. Ok, it’s not that tiny, but it’s one that’s been needed for a while:

Yes, Junkrat players will now need to be accurate. After they look up accuracy in the dictionary, they’ll realize this means the closer mines get to opponents, the more damage they’ll do. This means no more random spamming of mines. Bad news for Junkrat mains, good news for everyone else.

What will be really interesting is to see how this affects professional play in the Overwatch League, once the changes make it there.
