Speed Leveling Guide for Diablo 4 Season 12

by - 4 weeks ago

If you’re rolling a new character in Diablo 4 Season 12, Maxroll just dropped an updated speed leveling guide that’s worth bookmarking. The community resource site has revised their strategies to account for Season 12’s latest mechanics, and the fastest path to level 60 has shifted in some interesting ways.

The big news is that speed-running the Vessel of Hatred campaign is now the optimal route to max level, assuming you’ve already completed it once on your account. Maxroll’s guide writers are recommending you start on Hard difficulty (Normal if you’re struggling) and immediately knock out the Seasonal Questline to unlock the reputation track before diving into the VoH campaign proper.

Forgotten Wisdom Changes the Game

Here’s where things get spicy. If you find Undercity experience Tributes or Nightmare Sigils with the Forgotten Wisdom affix, those become massive XP injections worth running immediately. The Forgotten Wisdom affix makes enemies drop experience orbs, and these orbs are so valuable that you’re actually better off running those sigils on Normal difficulty rather than higher tiers. Kill speed matters more than the difficulty modifier when you’re vacuuming up XP orbs.

The leveling curve should carry you to roughly level 57 by the time you’ve killed Mephisto in the campaign, which is the last major quest XP boost. At that point, Maxroll recommends skipping the rest of the campaign (make sure you do this BEFORE starting the Deeds of the Champion questline, or you’ll lock yourself out of skipping). The final push to 60 comes from tackling efficient Strongholds outside the Nahantu region.

Preparation Makes All the Difference

The guide goes deep on preparation, which honestly makes or breaks your leveling speed. You’ll want to unlock relevant Codex of Power aspects on your main character before you even create your alt, stash “twink” gear with optimal stats every 5-10 levels as you play your main, and have at least Level 1 Elixirs ready for that constant 5% XP boost. If you’re serious about marathon leveling sessions, a solid gaming chair like the Secretlab Titan Evo can make those long grinds significantly more comfortable.

One detail worth noting is the level requirement system. Items you find on your main character retain their level requirement based on when your main found them, so strategically stashing gear while your main is at certain level breakpoints means your alt can equip powerful items immediately. If you’ve been lucky enough to snag a Mythic Unique, your alt can equip it at level 35 and absolutely demolish the leveling curve.

Maxroll also breaks down the experience scaling system in detail. Elites give fixed XP regardless of monster type, while their minions and Champion monsters give 60% of an Elite’s experience, making them priority targets. The difficulty tiers available for levels 1-60 are Normal, Hard (75% more XP and Gold), Expert (125% more XP and Gold), and Penitent (175% more XP and Gold).

The guide includes optimal build recommendations from their leveling tier list, which prioritize density clearing and high movement speed with low cooldown mobility skills. Their philosophy is simple: “Town is lava.” Every second you’re standing around is time you’re not gaining XP.

For players looking to optimize their setup alongside their leveling route, the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 provides the precision you need for fast-paced dungeon clearing, while the LG 27GP850-B 27-Inch Gaming Monitor delivers the smooth 165Hz refresh rate to keep up with the action.
