A small list of hotfixes went out late today, including a small nerf to the Gorefiend encounter, a reduced chance of getting bonus Felblight, and an upcoming hotfix for the Master vs. Commander legendary quest where its naval missions wouldn’t show up. As usual, you can read the hotfixes below or on the official blog. Garrisons Naval Missions An Expert Captain threat can now be fully countered by 2 Pandaren Crews or 2 assist ship equipment (Ammo Reserves, Automated Sky Scanner, Extra Quarters, Noisemaker Mines, and Sonic Amplification Field). Quests Legendary Ring Quest Line Master vs. Commander: Fixed an issue that could cause legendary naval missions needed to obtain a Draenic Sea Chart to not show up correctly. Raids and Dungeons Hellfire Citadel General Corrected an issue where bonus roll loot tables for Tyrant Velhari and Fel Lord Zakuun’s got swapped on Raid Finder difficulty. Kilrogg Deadeye ...

Nerdtacular 2015 Recap

by Magistrate on

Disclaimer: if you’re hoping for any big expansion leaks and announcements, this is not the type of event for you. However, if game development, World of Warcraft‘s history, and similar are interesting topics for you, then this informal panel run by the folks at The Instance is probably down your alley. Chris Metzen, Randy Jordan, Patrick Beja, and Russell Brower participated in the discussion in addition to the hosts. We broke the video down into bullets below, but it’s important to understand that everything is contextual. Blizzard is not abandoning its core values Releasing more content quicker is still a goal, and is something they’re thinking about and working on all the time They never expected the game to reach the subscription level it did They’re continually learning from their experiences, even today The team is still trying to figure out the right “rhythm” and “big ideas” that are best for ...

Whoa, this card looks pretty interesting. a potential 6/4 for 3 mana is a good follow-up for a card like Kobold Geomancer. It’s still not that hard to kill at 4hp, and while impressive its probably not gamebreaking enough to carry an entire deck with it. Hopefully we get some more support by a Spell Damage oriented deck, and perhaps we will start to see new archetypes pop out. If you are looking forward to see new LEGENDARY cards, go to the official Hearthstone site to submit your vote! If enough people send tweets with the #TGTLegendary, both of them will be revealed at the same time. Keep an eye here for more reveals and all the latest Grand Tournament coverage, and check out our spoiler list for the full set of revealed cards....

Ars Arcanum: Tasker and Theo

by Hotstreak on

Books have often been society’s only bastion of light for passing along knowledge that would otherwise be lost to time or convoluted by the oral tradition. In order to provide new and old adventurers with as much knowledge of what to expect on their journey in Sanctuary, we created this tome of knowledge – Ars Arcanum. We will regularly feature a Legendary weapon or armor piece, discussing its stand-alone powers and capabilities, as well as how it may synergize with new builds or other items. This week we will be talking about Tasker and Theo, the best in slot gloves for Witch Doctors. TaT is another good item for both Wizards and Witch Doctors and can give you that extra boost when climbing the leader boards. These are a pair of gloves that can’t be passed up so lets take a look at why. Why is it good? It’s quite simple ...

The Unsolved Mystery of Mike Booth

by Crow on

Waaaaaaaay back when I first started at BlizzPro, one of the first scoops I picked up was about Mike Booth, former CEO of Turtle Rock Studios and director of the original Left 4 Dead. Booth had left Valve for Blizzard, and came on as a game director for an unannounced project, for which he was hiring producers and artists as of December 2013. At the time, we thought that Booth may have been given the reigns of “Project Titan,” which earlier that year was announced to have been “reset.” When the Overwatch trademark was revealed some months later, that sparked those fires again, though nothing was certain. When Titan was later cancelled completely, there was still no noise out of Booth. Finally, with the announcement of Overwatch at BlizzCon 2014 and the recognition of Jeff Kaplan as the director, and with no Mike Booth to be seen, the mystery continued. And now that ...

Lúcio: speculation

by BLU30RION on

We try to interpret the playlist to get further insight to who Lúcio is and what he can do for Overwatch...

A new article has appeared on the Overwatch news feed, playing up the possibility that a new character is going to be revealed at gamescom next week. This article contains a couple of EDM music samples posted to music streaming site Soundcloud, which is interesting in and of it itself. In tandem with last week’s post of an image to imgur (which we totally missed; sorry everyone!) this shows that Blizzard seems to be interested in flexing some of the multimedia elements of the Internet itself as part of the approach of the transmedia storytelling that Overwatch seems poised to engage. Read the full article below, along with some speculation about who this new character might be afterwards. Lúcio, an acclaimed musical artist who’s built his career doing live shows, has already become something of a national icon in his home country of Brazil. Now he’s poised to win an international ...

Here’s what we know. Blizzard is throwing a media event at gamescom 2015. Some fansites have been invited to the event, so it adds fuel to the fire that Blizzard is going to announce something notable. However, there’s a few other pieces to that: The event is happening on the 5th, which is a press-only day. This is consistent with the announcement of Reaper of Souls back in 2013. Filming the press conference has been banned. There were livestreams of the 2013 conference. Now maybe there’s some kind of explanation for why they’d ban filming the media briefing, but it’s a key difference between the circumstances when Reaper was announced and what’s happening right now. That alone isn’t enough reason to confirm or deny the possibility that Blizzard could announce WOWX6, however; recall that immediately following the announcement of Overwatch at last year’s BlizzCon, there was a closed-door blacked-out media press conference where the ...
