Facebook LiveStreaming on Battle.net Enters Beta

by - 8 years ago

It was announced about a month ago that Facebook Streaming would be coming to Blizzard games. Tonight, Battle.net has launched into beta the Facebook Livestreaming.

Several people received emails inviting them to the beta test. You can access the beta features by going to your settings in battle.net, navigating to the “In Development” section and downloading the newest beta build.

Once you have this, you will see in the top right corner a video camera link on your battle.net application. By clicking that, you can start setting up your livestream by connecting to your Facebook account. As of right now, this appears to only work on your own personal page, so if you have a Page set up for your website or something like that that you manage, it doesn’t appear you can connect to that. Not something that would affect most people, but I would like to be able to stream to our BlizzPro Facebook page.

You can read the full email below to learn more about this upcoming feature

HOW TO ACCESS BETA FEATURES
If you haven’t yet opted in for Beta access, you can do so by going to your Battle.net app Settings and navigating to the “In Development” section. Once there, you can opt in manually and download the Beta client.

Once you’re opted in and have updated your Beta client to the newest build, you’ll be greeted by a “What’s New” screen that will introduce you to the Blizzard Streaming feature.

Note: If you ever wish to switch back to the previous, non-test version of the client, you can do so easily through your app settings.

GETTING STARTED WITH STREAMING
It’s easy to set up Blizzard Streaming—just click the Streaming button on the top right of your Battle.net launcher, then input your Facebook credentials to allow Blizzard to post on your behalf (this will only be used to post your gameplay on Facebook, and you will be able to specify each stream’s audience via the Streaming Control Panel).

Quick Tip:
Use the Ctrl + F1 hotkey combination to start your stream once in-game.

If you’d like to further customize your Blizzard Streaming experience, you can find more detailed options for your hotkeys, input devices, and webcam in the settings.

SENDING US FEEDBACK
After you get a few streaming sessions under your belt, we’d love to hear what you think! Blizzard Streaming is still in development, and one of the purposes of this test is to identify any issues and improve the experience before the final version is launched. We encourage you to share your feedback and experience by posting in our Streaming Beta forum.

Thanks for participating—we’ll see you online!
