BlizzCon Day 2 Recap – All the Big Things

by - 10 years ago

Day 2 was another fantastic day filled with panels and endless activities. We also crowned our two champions: Artosis taking the top spot in the Hearthstone Innkeeper’s Invitational Tournament early in the day, and sOs winning it all in the final match-up of the StarCraft WCS.

Hearthstone

Today was the second and final day of the Hearthstone Innkeeper’s Invitational Tournament, and ZenStyle, or managing editor for the Hearthstone section, brings you a full breakdown and analysis of the event. The winner of the tournament was Artosis, who took on Kripparrian in the final round.

Heroes of the Storm

No significant news for Heroes of the Storm following the official announcement on Friday, but the game seems to have struck a chord with BlizzCon attendees: even the draw of the closing act did nothing to shorten the lines of players eager to try the game at the convention. The good news: you can now sign-up for the beta. Check out the new Carbot Animations promo for Heroes of the Storm with Arthas, Diablo, Malfurion and many others!

StarCraft

Saturday was the big day for StarCraft at BlizzCon. Building the excitement early, the World Championship Series eventually came down to sOs versus Jaedong, with sOs emerging as the champion.

The StarCraft championship match was the highlight for many, especially viewers of the BlizzCon stream.

Warcraft

With World of Warcraft understandably being the largest draw at BlizzCon, we heard a lot of new information about the upcoming expansion today. Attendees had the opportunity to ask developers their most pressing questions directly. Fans eager to hear more about the Warcraft movie found out that the film is still about two years away from final release, but we now know that the story will focus on Lothar and Durotan.

And thus ends another great BlizzCon. If you had a chance to attend the event, I hope we were able to recap some of the highlights for you. If you followed at home, hopefully we could share some of the fun and excitement with you.
